The New Era - See You Again & The Long, Lonely Road (Inst Version) Music Video

Several demo tracks recorded with the Boss BR-864 Porta-Studio, back in 2004 and 2015. To be honest, I was debating on whether or not to just go ahead and officially release these particular tracks, before too much time went by from when I first recorded them, as they were like experimental, demo tracks to begin with (and I have allot of them!) but wanted to try to put something out there for now, during this interim period, to sorta' like keep things going, and the music flowing. They should be available at many of the Online Merchants shortly. (See below).

But anyway: Someday, I guess, many of us will see each other again (in this life or the next) particularly in relation to those we have loved and lost. And quite possibly, even on that long, lonely road that may lead us there. Attempted to capture that feeling with this Music Video; and I just thought that these particular tracks may possibly be a good way to at least attempt to achieve that sentiment and mood...

The New Era - Loch Lomond Suite (Music Video II)

Recorded back in April 2012 on my Porta-Studio in Walkersville, Maryland; this suite is in three movements: I. Loch Lomond II. The Enchanted Lake

III. A Walk In The Park. This composition was initially inspired by a dream regarding the old, but well known, traditional Scottish folk song: "Loch Lomond". In the dream, the music was incredibly beautiful, and the chorus was being sung by a choir, sort of like a fade in and fade-out type of thing, and then I woke-up. After that, I set my mind on experimenting with that part of the song. Sort of like creating a musical collage (or "medley") around it, based on the chorus, and combining it with several other things that I had in the works, when I had the dream... As many know, it is a piece that has been in the public domain for some generations now, and I always loved listening to the many different versions, especially around the spring time of year; as it always seemed to me to be a spring-time kind of song to begin with. (And when it does seem to be performed most often). I guess this is my version, for now. The other two movements, I wrote myself... The 3rd movement ("A Walk In The Park") incorporates the chorus of another song that I have been working on, but have yet to record. The words and melody just sort of fit together, and (much to my surprise) seemed to work with the variation in the chord changes, to fit the movement. So, I thought I would just flow with the inspiration (as I improvised around the chord changes) while I turned on the recorder, and just go with it. And what you hear here, is pretty much the result...

When faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, we are also faced with a choice, of either giving in to negativity and giving up (which is compassionately understandable in certain situations) or believing in something greater. Something that (very well may have possibly) put us here for a reason, if you will. And who has created everyone (and everything) with a purpose. (Notwithstanding the fact, that people, like a Hitler for instance, have the free will to selfishly distort that purpose. But that's beyond the scope of this post). And therefore, we would have to in response, listen to that still, small voice inside us; that gives us (especially the distressed, oppressed, persecuted, downtrodden, and the underdog) comfort, encouragement, and hope; and the inspiration, insight, wisdom, and faith, to know what is the truth. Something, that lets us know (despite everything that may be going on around us) that we are loved, and understood. That very thing, that quite possibly, may have set the stars in motion, created the Universe, the Sun, the Moon, the laws of nature, and the very world in which we live! And who is life itself. This (experimental, demo) track is somewhat about that experience, and belief; against all odds. Maybe you can relate...

As with the previous song, this was also an experimental track, using abstract lyric writing; recorded back in 2004, on my home Porta-Studio in Walkersville, Maryland...

Wow. See how it works? I am (intuitively) picking up something about the 'giving up' part (I wrote) above. Whew. Ya' know, its difficult to comprehend when you are cut from a different cloth and all. But its like people (you don't even know) who may want your demise (even though you've never done them any wrong) and for no apparent reason, other then the fact that they are just TOTALLY fu*ked up, and its like part of their particular (sad) culture; because, what I'm picking up, is kinda' like an Eric Rudolph type of psychology. Ya' know, like its in the genes or somethin'. Like a generational thing, I guess. TOTALLY freakin' sadistic. (Is the feeling I'm getting). Ya know, like totally devoid of any kind of empathy or compassion, that makes one human and all? Well, ya know, I'm currently in the mountains (like the glorified Appalachia part) of North Carolina. Big eye opener, in itself. Its like the wild west. (On acid!)

Although, of course, not EVERYONE is like that here. But never-the-less, there IS a HUGE corruption and crime problem here. FOR SURE. (Ya know, the natural born criminal/killer thing?) The feeling is kinda' like the psychology of that psychopath hillbilly in the Steven Seagal flick (Kill Switch) where the character Seagal plays, comes home, only to find his wife brutally murdered by this guy, who then attempts to taunt Seagal!!! (And the guy LIKES pain!) Needless to say, Seagal gave him what he wanted, and the beating he so sorely needed and deserved. (So, yep, you can be sure they're reading this). Its the perceived underdog thing I mentioned above. They LOVE seeming vulnerability, and perceived weakness to begin with. (It makes them cream their pants!)

It's also sorta like in the Steven Seagal flick: "Marked for Death", as I astonishingly found, it has like a bizarre, sick, dark, spiritual dimension to it, if you will: i.e. Ingles/Don't Forget Me Twitter Post. i.e. 'The Devil You Know' series on Hulu. Ya' know? Like sh*t for brains kinda' stuff...

Interesting YouTube podcast, related to the previous link, that further demonstrates that this sh*t is not only real, but also sorta' like a criminal related, dark, and disturbing part of certain backwater type cultures, that very well may also cross state lines: Pazuzu Algarad: The Clemmons House of Horrors...

For it seems, there's another strange thing I am picking up. And the reasoning behind it, is almost beyond description. Actually approaching like a demonic influence kind of thing. Whew. (I actually worked recently with somebody here who said that she wanted to go to hell!!! No shit. With God as my judge).

But anyway, in relation to this (I'm gonna go for it) and getting back to the subject matter of this post (and if you are cut from a different cloth as well) here are some really interesting quotes that I looked up (and remembered from years ago) from one of the Jewish wisdom books, that is one of the many things written there that has always given me some kind of comfort in some very difficult situations, in relation to what the author seems to strongly believe is the true nature of God; as the ancient and devout Jewish people have always believed in a 'personal', just and compassionate God, who delivered them from their oppressors (when they were like outnumbered) time and time again, throughout the generations; allegedly beginning with the ancient Egyptians. (Culminating in what is known as the feast of the Passover). And I know this is probably going to like REALLY piss them off (what I mentioned about what I was picking up above, that is) but dig this: This is actually in the Jewish Bible. (Well, the Apocrypha, as they call it. And studied by Kabbalists. And is also, in the Catholic Bible. And kind of amazing that I found it in the first place. As a kid anyway). But check this out. Its (just one of the many particularly interesting and powerful passages) from what is called the Book of Sirach...

"A beggar in distress do not reject; avert not your face from the poor. From the needy turn not your eyes, give no man reason to curse you; For if in the bitterness of his soul he curse you, his Creator will hear his prayer."

(Of course, you still have to use common sense; particularly if you're in a REALLY bad area, like the one I just described. I know this from experience, but that's besides the point. It's still a POWERFUL quote, if properly understood).

"For he is a God of justice, who knows no favorites. Though not unduly partial toward the weak, yet he hears the cry of the oppressed. He is not deaf to the wail of the orphan, nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint; Do not the tears that stream down her cheek cry out against him that causes them to fall? ..The prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds; it does not rest until it reaches its goal, nor will it withdraw till the Most High responds, judges justly and affirms the right. God indeed will not delay, and like a warrior, will not be still. Till he breaks the backs of the merciless and wreaks vengeance upon the proud..."

INTERESTING and powerful stuff. There is a social justice school of thought (a mitzvah if you will) that seems to go back generations among the Jewish people, that can literally change the world, in my opinion. And maybe, just maybe, that's why Hitler wanted to destroy them. It was like a spiritual thing. Hitler was into the dark side of the occult. But that is also beyond the scope of this post. As my Uncle (God rest his soul) used to say: "Too Deep"...

The New Era - The Promised Land (A Demo from The Walkersville Sessions)

This song was originally written when I was a kid, somewhat in the style of Brian Wilson (of The Beach Boys) and somewhat in the style of a Beatles White Album track. I did modify some of the lyrics when I had recorded this version of the song, back in Maryland (in 2004) which was somewhat after the time the Feds had traced the source of the anthrax attacks to that very area in Maryland where I was living at the time! Which, of course, was TOTALLY bizarre, to say the least. (But not goin' to go there). So the the song also became like a lyrically abstract fantasy work, somewhat in the style of Alice In Wonderland. When I had originally written it as a kid, some of the lyrics were also inspired by a song (which I can't remember what song it was right now) that used the word 'Love' in the track as like a real person. Ya' know, like a living, spiritual (ethereal) being? Like a cupid, I guess. Thus, adding to the storybook, fantasy style mood of the track; which I finally decided to just release as it stands (right now) in this Demo version here...

Some Additional Notes About the Track...

This recording of the song was still like an experimental track when I recorded it on my home studio, back in Maryland. Musically and lyrically. For instance, one of the things that I wanted to eventually change (to prevent any misunderstanding, or deliberate misinterpretation) if and when I re-recorded the song, was the line: "I look around and see evil everywhere..." Which I never particularly liked. (It WAS written in the abstract. I mean, I myself, don't see evil EVERYWHERE! I mean, of course, there was evil there, but I did not see it EVERYWHERE. So, although some of the lyrics were somewhat influenced by some of the events in the area in which I was living, it was still mostly written in the abstract. Duh). Couldn't think of anything else at the time, or something that rhymed with the next line (which I did kinda' like) so some of the lyrics, were just one of several reasons as to why I just sat on the recording all these years. However, I also realized, that it was somewhat like a fantasy type song to begin with, and much of it wasn't intended to be taken literally in the first place. However (because the source of the anthrax attacks was traced to the very area around where I was living, at the exact time I had relocated there! And being, that I WAS hearing and seeing allot of strange things there) I also like, instinctively knew, that I had to consider the fact (at the risk of sounding paranoid and all) that someone might be attempting to set me up in some way; especially because of the INCREDIBLE coincidence, of me living there when this bizarre crime took place. And that it obviously involved some SERIOUSLY sick minds to begin with. So, once again, I sorta' instinctively knew that any lyrics I wrote could very well be twisted and distorted, to (ironically) possibly make ME look like some kind of crazy (or delusional) person. And to attempt to discredit me in some way. I mean, we've all seen those movies, whether fictional or not, that goes to that very psychopath, criminal psychology..

I mean, this was a crime that was like freakin' something RIGHT OUT OF A SCI-FI MOVIE to begin with! (Stephen King had nothing on this sh*t). But that's it, no further comment in relation to this. I know human nature. Although, I myself am cut from a different cloth. I'm as normal as they come. (Psychologically, at least). Its always the way...

The New Era - Father Christmas (Reprise)

A Christmas character of English folklore and myth. Father Christmas is the traditional English name for the personification of Christmas. Although now known as a Christmas gift-bringer, and typically considered to be synonymous with Santa Claus, he was originally part of a much older and unrelated English folkloric tradition.

The recognizably modern figure of the English Father Christmas developed in the late Victorian period, but Christmas had been personified for centuries before then.

English folklore consists of the myths and legends of England, including the English region's mythical creatures, traditional recipes, urban legends, and folktales. Father Christmas was therefore, somewhat considered to be, like the embodiment of the spirit of Christmas itself, and in some cultures even became somewhat synonymous with the legend of Saint Nicholas...

Here is an ambiguous musical tale of a wanderer (leaving familiar surroundings and embarking on a journey) who then becomes lost in the wilderness during the holiday season. Encountering the benevolent Father Christmas along the way, he asks for his help in finding his way back home. A little while later, several other like-minded young wanderers also approach Father Christmas, and ask him for the same favor; which through his miraculous intercession, ultimately brings them all together again, for an emotional reunion in a place that they dreamt of, and which they can now all call home...

Note: This track should now be available on Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes...

The New Era - A Christmas Story (Reprise - Part 2)

This track is basically in two parts, and several movements: 'A Christmas Story' (which was previously released as a single) is Part 1. 'Father Christmas' is Part 2, and is comprised of a medley, or several movements. What does (possibly) finding your way back home, mean to you? As the main theme of this track can have many connotations, and meanings. All in the spirit (and mystery) of Christmas itself...

Will soon be available on music merchant/streaming sites like Amazon, Apple Music, and Spotify, shortly...

The New Era - I'd Be There (Music Video II)

This is a song about having one foot in the past, and one foot in the future, with memories of people and events along the way; after arriving in an unusual and unfamiliar place. It did turn out to be like a memory stamp in time though, and even somewhat prophetic (in more ways then one) when Superstorm (Hurricane) Sandy had hit the east coast (as I was in the process of making another significant change in my life) signifying that I was in for one hell of a wild ride! Such unusual and difficult things in one's life (the storms of life) can also make one very introspective, as one attempts to move forward toward one's ultimate destiny; as was part of the theme of 'The Walkersville Sessions' album, and in relation to some of the other previous (Music Video) tracks that I have shared here, based on songs that became somewhat of an expression of that more serious side of this introspection...

For people who may be able to relate, there IS a message here, that I myself am still trying to understand; as the song seemed to have written itself. It was like being a musical medium or somethin'! It just came thru, as I started out, just writing (in a somewhat lyrically abstract way) about daring to find the way in the direction of one's dreams; but also realizing the possibility, that there very well may also be some more difficulties, dangers, and snares along the way; if for no other reason, then in relation to the things that may have led you to the place you currently may be at to begin with...

Hmm? Interesting. Another great scene from this somewhat unusual flick...

Mmm. While I'm on this, just noticed another somewhat interesting scene from the flick. The movie seems to be strongly influenced, and based on, somethin' like freakin' RIGHT OUT OF 'OPERATION PAPERCLIP'!!! And Project MK ULTRA. Yea, Teddy hated evil people (he was funny that way) and he wound up (as an investigator) in some kind of a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane!!! (He lost his freakin' mind!) Oh, yea. Deep, dark, psychological thriller for sure. I'm like a student of psychology to begin with, and there's so many clues in this flick (about those who seemed to attempt to set him up there, and about the nature of psychological warfare, created by the professional psychopath mind, or minds) its incredible. (Its like an insight, of how the wiring in their brain is like, deliberately all screwed up). Dark ending though (as it is a dark flick to begin with) 'cause they were drugging poor Teddy against his will (and without him knowing it), as everything else seemed to fail. And, murder, is like always the last resort with these guys, when everything else seems to fail. In other words, if they can't sadistically get someone to kill themselves for instance; as Teddy also wanted to expose the whole freakin' thing from the beginning (and they seemed to know it). Holy sh*t...

Here's another pretty interesting scene. Yea, this flick is like, chock full of interesting sh*t. (From the study and analyzation of this particular kind of dark, criminally insane psychology point of view that is. The writer definitely seems to have done his homework). Hey, I think I worked with her!!! Damn. No way! Only kiddin'. (But not really). Inside joke...

This is one of the many scenes that is like something right out of 'Operation Paperclip'! (In Operation Paperclip, The Military Industrial Complex, particularly the CIA, were recruiting Nazis after the war, and bringing them here to the United States! That is, those who sorta like escaped the Nuremberg Trials. Many of these guys were known to have performed horrific medical experiments in the Concentration Camps; hence the grotesque medical experiments that Teddy strongly suspected, as to what was really going on at Shutter Island. It was like an example of the psychology of individuals within the Dark Side of our Government. On steroids! They were criminally insane, overseeing people in a mental hospital, who were criminally insane! The irony is just incredible). And (as indicated in this particular scene) they seemed to be deviously looking into Teddy, as he was looking into them. He knew, that they were in reality, serious head cases. As the real Rachel Salondo said in the cave scene: "You're allot smarter then you look. That is probably not a good thing..."

Fascinating flick, for more reasons then one. I understand it; although I know many people just don't, or really don't want to believe it. Although, many other people may actually know, in a very real way, some of the things that are like going on behind the scenes, and some may have actually and even knowingly been a part of some kind of like: "Government Ops", in some way, if you will! Its deep man. It always is. But its key (in a way) to allot of sh*t...

In fact, the flick came out when I was still living in Maryland (which is the place where I recorded the 'The Walkersville Sessions' album, that the above song is from) and it just blew me away (no pun intended) for more reasons then one. (I will never forget it. Left, like, a deep impression on me). Whew...

The New Era - The Broken Heart (Music Video II)

There is no pain (or sadness) quite as profound as a broken heart. But when you take a vaccine (for instance) that healing vaccine often contains the very thing that caused the sickness in the first place; and then becomes the cure for that particular malady! So, was (mostly) the intent behind the composition of this piece. To be somewhat, like a healing balm. Yet, probably one of the saddest (yet expressive) melodies (and musical compositions) ever written; if I must say so myself...

Of course, the dichotomy (and irony) here, is that you have to have a heart for it to be broken in the first place! Whether its from the loss of a close family member, the loss of a loved one, a close friend (for instance) or the emotional pain one may feel for someone you care about, who you know may be going through a very difficult time...

Somewhat reluctant to get too personal here, but I would like to dedicate this post and music video to my cousin JoAnn therefore; who had lost her mother, father, and husband, all within a period of just several years! (As her mother, my aunt anna, was suffering from cancer, and her father, my uncle pat, was suffering from alzheimer's, before they themselves passed. Extremely sad in itself, and broke my own heart, when I heard about it). I feel your pain...

A few years ago already, but my prayers (along with this music video) still go out to you. God bless (and comfort) you. I will never forget all the memories...
