The Tragic Loss of John Lennon - 40 years later...

I can soo relate to this song. (In relation to the passing of my close friend John Sullivan, for instance, as I mentioned in a previous post). Can't believe though, that it is 40 years already, since the death of John Lennon; and the initial shock many of us felt regarding a level of evil and insanity (in this country) we hadn't quite seen before. (At least, not since maybe, the bizarre events surrounding the assassinations of John and Bobby Kennedy). So much so, that it even made some of us consider (even if it was like, years later) that maybe there was something more to it, and insidious, lurking somewhere within the infrastructure (and DNA of a nation that seemed to have begun to lose its innocence) if you will.

(As we had seen, with all the senseless mass shootings in this country some years later, for instance; seemingly influenced by an often extremely corrupt, incredibly selfish and callous, and even criminally insane leadership, and establishment, that ostensibly had set the tone for what had become a violent nation, that seemed to always be looking to provoke, and/or get involved, in the next war).

I would therefore, like to dedicate this post to the memory of one of the greatest (and one of the most influential) musical legends (and one of the most brilliant, unconventional philosophers) who ever lived...

Yea, I've heard this story before, that Mark David Chapman (the killer of John Lennon) was into some kind of satanic cult or somethin'; at least at some point in his life. Put this here, just for some food for thought, I guess. (I mean, it makes ME wonder). Because, let's face it, people just don't go around doing such unspeakably sick, senseless, and evil sh*t like what he did, without something pretty crazy and deep going on inside their minds, one way or another. Maybe its all related in some way, on some kind of 'Rosemary's Baby' kind of level, I don't really know at this time. But (lets just say) it wouldn't surprise me. It can be a pretty dark world out there, for sure; although the guy did seem to have some things goin' for him. I mean, he was supposedly happily married, etc. It wasn't like he was some kind of homeless man on the streets, or the like. (And I am definitely not deriding the homeless, of course. God forbid. But you get the point). In other words, he did have a choice, regardless. (As, I have also heard it said, that there ARE people who have actually made a pact with the Devil, or sold their soul to the Devil, in exchange for fame and fortune, or for money or power, and the like, but it usually, eventually at least, ends in destruction, because the Devil, as it is said, is, well, evil!) Nobody forced Chapman to do what he did. He seemed to do it willingly. Why? Was something else goin' on, that he never really admitted, for some reason? I mean, one thing is for sure, he IS one crazy motherf*cker. One way or the other. (And, is most likely, not an honest person to begin with). No doubt about that one...

Couldn't really find a better video (at this time) in relation to what has become known as: 'The Abbey Road Medley', but definitely think it couldn't be more appropriate for this blog post, and in relation to the 40th anniversary of the passing of John Lennon. In fact, I can still remember listening to a radio station back in New York, when all this was going down, where they dedicated about 3 days in memory of John, and the events that had just recently transpired, that I still have on cassette tape, where you can hear the disc jockey getting all choked up when introducing the above track...
