The New Era - "Song for Caylee"

Finally finished writing and recording a song regarding the recent events in the news as of late, concerning the story of Caylee Anthony, and the trial of her mother, Caycee. I wrote the song as a tribute to her daughter, Caylee. I have now just uploaded the track here on my own 'Music' page for anyone to stream, free of charge. I hope to make it available for download and digital distribution (via CD Baby), as a single, within a relatively short period of time, as well. Faced with several different and significant challenges, (that I am not going to get into here) this song was therefore some time in the making, but I was determined to finally finish it and make it public. And also, wanted it to be a fitting tribute to the memory of this poor little girl, who was the victim of such a horrible, and presently unsolved crime. I had therefore, worked pretty hard on developing it from a few chord changes and a basic melody, to a completely produced song. The lyrics were especially challenging. But I am pretty satisfied with the results, if I must say so myself. Especially, being that I am still currently doing everything myself. i.e. Songwriter, engineer, producer, etc.

In other words, (and neither here nor there), I am the quintessential Indie artist!!!

But, at any rate, as far as at least part of the inspiration for writing the song, here is where it basically started...

Like many other people across the country, (who were fixated on this story and trial being played out in the news recently), I was moved to compassion for this poor, little girl, and what she must have gone through before she lost her life. It was needless to say, a monstracity of a crime, and broke my heart, when I first learned about it from the sister of a friend, who I had met on facebook; And therefore, took an interest in the story myself. And, pretty much, tried to follow what was coming-out in the news (and online) about it, ever since...

It also made me once again think about the great evil that we (unfortunately) have to deal with in this world, that all too often seems to target and prey on the innocent, the vulnerable, the helpless, and the least among us.

May God grant Caylee's soul everlasting serenity and peace. And justice. "It's a lost, broken world..."
