Abraham Maslow, W. Edwards Deming, and the Way of Thinking that Creates a Just (and Prosperous) Economy...

First learned about these guys when I studied Business and Psychology in College. Brilliant men, whose teachings are definitely worth a look at, especially by students of business, economics, and sociology. In fact, W. Edwards Deming, nearly single handedly, had a significant impact in turning Japan's economy around and assisting it in becoming a major economic power on the world scene (and one of the best manufacturer's of electronic products and automobiles in the world) after the devastation it suffered during World War II, yet was curiously not as widely accepted by the business leaders in the United States, though he was invited to give lectures, with those who did implement at least some of his policies, particularly when their own businesses were having problems. Many Japanese business leaders however, REALLY comprehended and recognized the brilliance in Deming's instructions, guidance, and teachings, and ran with it. (And treated him almost like a wise Sensei!) From what I understand, they still to this day, have what they call a Demings Award, which they use to acknowledge businesses who have successfully implemented his principles, culture, and business model. As a matter of fact, what made Deming's approach so effective, is that he also wisely implemented the sociological and psychological theorem behind Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs in his own teachings...
