The New Era - The Promised Land (A Demo from The Walkersville Sessions)

This song was originally written when I was a kid, somewhat in the style of Brian Wilson (of The Beach Boys) and somewhat in the style of a Beatles White Album track. I did modify some of the lyrics when I had recorded this version of the song, back in Maryland (in 2004) which was somewhat after the time the Feds had traced the source of the anthrax attacks to that very area in Maryland where I was living at the time! Which, of course, was TOTALLY bizarre, to say the least. (But not goin' to go there). So the the song also became like a lyrically abstract fantasy work, somewhat in the style of Alice In Wonderland. When I had originally written it as a kid, some of the lyrics were also inspired by a song (which I can't remember what song it was right now) that used the word 'Love' in the track as like a real person. Ya' know, like a living, spiritual (ethereal) being? Like a cupid, I guess. Thus, adding to the storybook, fantasy style mood of the track; which I finally decided to just release as it stands (right now) in this Demo version here...

Some Additional Notes About the Track...

This recording of the song was still like an experimental track when I recorded it on my home studio, back in Maryland. Musically and lyrically. For instance, one of the things that I wanted to eventually change (to prevent any misunderstanding, or deliberate misinterpretation) if and when I re-recorded the song, was the line: "I look around and see evil everywhere..." Which I never particularly liked. (It WAS written in the abstract. I mean, I myself, don't see evil EVERYWHERE! I mean, of course, there was evil there, but I did not see it EVERYWHERE. So, although some of the lyrics were somewhat influenced by some of the events in the area in which I was living, it was still mostly written in the abstract. Duh). Couldn't think of anything else at the time, or something that rhymed with the next line (which I did kinda' like) so some of the lyrics, were just one of several reasons as to why I just sat on the recording all these years. However, I also realized, that it was somewhat like a fantasy type song to begin with, and much of it wasn't intended to be taken literally in the first place. However (because the source of the anthrax attacks was traced to the very area around where I was living, at the exact time I had relocated there! And being, that I WAS hearing and seeing allot of strange things there) I also like, instinctively knew, that I had to consider the fact (at the risk of sounding paranoid and all) that someone might be attempting to set me up in some way; especially because of the INCREDIBLE coincidence, of me living there when this bizarre crime took place. And that it obviously involved some SERIOUSLY sick minds to begin with. So, once again, I sorta' instinctively knew that any lyrics I wrote could very well be twisted and distorted, to (ironically) possibly make ME look like some kind of crazy (or delusional) person. And to attempt to discredit me in some way. I mean, we've all seen those movies, whether fictional or not, that goes to that very psychopath, criminal psychology..

I mean, this was a crime that was like freakin' something RIGHT OUT OF A SCI-FI MOVIE to begin with! (Stephen King had nothing on this sh*t). But that's it, no further comment in relation to this. I know human nature. Although, I myself am cut from a different cloth. I'm as normal as they come. (Psychologically, at least). Its always the way...
